The Aprisa SR+ is distance-engineered and optimised for SCADA and telemetry applications, providing reliable, robust performance however demanding the conditions: what we call ‘real world radio’. RF performance is unbeatable, with attention paid to every element of the design: transmitter, receiver, modulation and efficiency.

The receiver maintains exceptional low noise operation via excellent sensitivity for greater distance and high selectivity and intermodulation suppression for superior protection from interference.

SMART MANAGEMENT
Visual Diagnostics and Intuitive Network Management

It doesn’t matter how good your radios are if you have no visibility of their performance, or if it is difficult to configure and manage your radios or your network.
The Aprisa SR+ incorporates a number of simple, yet smart, features to make it easy to manage your SCADA network, both at an individual radio level and at a complete network level. Detailed network monitoring means that faulty or failed RTUs can be easily identified.

Multiple LEDs provide easy visibility of status and alarm information, together with a test button that enables the display of key parameters such as RSSI. The Aprisa SR+ has LED indicators on each of the serial and Ethernet data ports which indicate the presence of data on the port.

The SuperVisor application supports local element management via IP and remote element management over the air from a PC connected to the Aprisa base station. SNMP support allows network-wide monitoring and control via a third party network management system such as Castlerock SNMPc. With the Aprisa MIBs configurations compiled into SNMPc, the management system can be used to visualise, monitor and manage the Aprisa network, as well as gathering and displaying performance statistics.

SMART SECURITY
Defense in Depth

Security is more than just encryption. It’s about ensuring that the entire SCADA network is protected and that all vulnerabilities are secured against attack, whether accidental or malicious.
The Aprisa SR family incorporates an in depth approach to security, what we call a 360 degree approach. This takes into account security fundamentals, types and sources of attack, and protecting all data and management interfaces, as well as incorporating industry standards and recommendations. This approach protects against passive eavesdropping, active denial of service, ‘man-in-the-middle’ attacks and attacks at a management level.

​The Aprisa SR+ security includes all of the following:
  • AES-256 encryption as standard: ensuring the confidentiality of all transmitted information
  • Proprietary wireless protocol: based on 802.15.4 MAC and a proprietary PHY. This combines a standardised and extensively tested protocol with selected proprietary features to avoid over the air interception and manipulation of data
  • Segregated traffic flow: allowing operators to isolate radio nodes and SCADA equipment
  • Licensed radio spectrum: ensuring that you are the only authorised user of the spectrum, avoiding interference from others using the same band
  • Management interface protection: including authentication, secure web interface, encrypted firmware upgrades and ICMP and UDP/TCP port blocking
  • Address filtering: to ensure that the traffic across the network originates from an authorised source and only packets that have the correct address details are passed on
  • Data authentication: using CCM-based authenticated encryption algorithm, to protect integrity of information and mitigate replay attack and ‘man-in-the-middle’ attacks
  • Over the air rekeying (OTAR): Enhanced security key management via over-the-air re-keying (OTAR) enables users to change the network encryption keys at regular intervals to improve network security. Keys can be distributed securely throughout the network to outstations without the need to visit individual sites. Encryption key distribution is managed through the web based SuperVisor application

SMART INTERFACES
Wide Range of Traffic and Management Interfaces

The Aprisa SR family is designed to provide a future-proof SCADA radio solution, as well as making network management as easy as possible. With support for both serial and IP traffic, you can migrate to IP at your own pace.
Incorporating a comprehensive range of interfaces to provide maximum flexibility for communication, configuration and control, you can choose the Aprisa product that best meets the needs of your network and applications.

Multiple serial and Ethernet ports enable the simultaneous connection of multiple RTUs and enable management of the radio over-the-air, using the web based GUI, without interrupting user data. Local firmware upgrades and radio configuration can be carried out securely using a USB flash drive.

​A dedicated USB management port allows the management and configuration of the radio using a Command Line Interface (CLI).
